At the end of May Poetry will announce the 2008 winner of the Ruth Lilly Prize, one of the largest and most prestigious literary honors in the country. Established in 1986, the prize awards $100,000 to a living American poet whose lifetime accomplishments warrant extraordinary recognition. Past recipients include, among others, John Ashbery (1992), Yusef Komunyakaa (2001) and Kay Ryan (2004). Selections of their work appear below.
